Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply to your access to and use of MetalCalc, including the Metal Building Cost Calculator, Quote Checker and related website content. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Planning tool only

MetalCalc provides general educational information and preliminary project-planning estimates. Results are generated from simplified dimensions, selected assumptions, broad regional labor factors and budget allowances. They are not bids, offers, contracts, appraisals, guaranteed market prices or promises that a supplier will complete work for a displayed amount.

No professional advice

MetalCalc does not provide structural engineering, architecture, geotechnical, construction management, code-compliance, legal, tax, insurance, lending or other professional advice. Calculator output does not determine whether a building, foundation or system is appropriate for a particular property. Consult qualified local professionals before purchasing materials, signing a contract, applying for permits or beginning construction.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for entering reasonable assumptions, reviewing all inclusions and exclusions, confirming site conditions and obtaining written proposals. You must independently verify dimensions, loads, soil and drainage conditions, utilities, access, delivery, taxes, permits, engineering requirements, labor availability and applicable codes. Do not rely on MetalCalc as the sole basis for a financial, purchasing or construction decision.

Quote Checker

The Quote Checker compares a user-entered supplier amount with selected categories from a MetalCalc planning estimate. It cannot verify the accuracy, completeness, licensing, insurance, financial condition or honesty of any supplier. A result such as “below,” “within” or “above” a planning range is not a recommendation, accusation or determination that a quote is fair.

Shared links and user inputs

Shared estimate URLs may contain project dimensions, state and configuration assumptions. Do not place confidential, personal or proprietary information in a shared URL. You are responsible for deciding who receives a shared link. You represent that information you submit or share through the site does not violate law or another person’s rights.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for lawful personal or internal business planning. You may not interfere with site operation, bypass access or security controls, introduce malicious code, use automated activity that materially impairs availability, misrepresent calculator output as a certified quotation or professional opinion, or use the service in violation of applicable law.

Website content and intellectual property

The site design, original text, calculation presentation, graphics and software are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the site for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of MetalCalc content, branding or software. Facts, your own inputs and independently created project information remain outside this limited license.

Third-party services and links

The site may rely on hosting and infrastructure providers or link to third-party websites. MetalCalc does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices or offers. If advertising, affiliate relationships or paid referrals are introduced, material relationships will be disclosed where relevant.

Service changes and availability

Features, price ranges, assumptions and content may be changed, corrected, suspended or discontinued at any time. MetalCalc does not promise uninterrupted availability or preservation of shared estimate URLs. The pricing version and review date shown with an estimate identify the model used at that time.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or uninterrupted operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so part of this paragraph may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MetalCalc will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, project delays, cost overruns, purchasing decisions or construction losses arising from use of or reliance on the site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as the service changes. The revised Terms will be posted with a new effective date. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

General provisions

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer describe the terms applicable to this website.
